RHYTHMS

2023

Archival pigment print on Baryta Hahnemüle paper, 112 x 200 cm, 2023

This series entitled RHYTHMS was created following an invitation to interpret the city of Madinah in the heart of Saudi Arabia.
Each of these works represents, in a poetic way, the inhabitants, the pilgrims, the visitors and the urban landscapes of Madinah. They express the cultural and spiritual heritage as well as contemporary facets of the holy city.
These photographic compositions were exhibited in four locations: Madinah Arts Center, King Salman International Convention Center, video projections on Madinah buildings and on the NFT platform - Nuqtah.
As titles for the photographs, I chose quotes from Saudi poets to deepen the dialogue with the spirit of the place.
These poets, ancient and contemporary, speak to us of their human feelings within their daily lives.
This project was initiated by Swiss entrepreneur Aline Garibian and Abdulrahman Ibrahim, Chief Data and Innovation Officer at the Madinah Region Development Authority (MDA).
It was made possible thanks to the support of Madinah Authority Development, the French Embassy in Riyadh, the French Consulate in Jeddah, and the Alliance Française. The curator Dr Effat Fadag and her team accompanied us in this journey.
