The fires that have devastated the landscapes of the South of France have prompted me to undertake new research into the resilience of nature. Camera and microphone in hand, I explore the manifestations of life that reappear in the midst of devastation. By incorporating fragments of material collected in situ (ashes, branches, plants) into the photographic prints, I try to reconstruct what the fire has taken away. "Firelands" reprsents a long-term project that took four years to complete. Three months, six months and a year after the fires, I returned to the sites to photograph the regeneration of the landscapes and the resurgence of life: the leaves of the trees have grown back, the green of the foliage covers the white of the ashes and the black of the charred trunks.
